Join us for a showing of “Oppenheimer”, a 2023 epic biographical thriller film that follows the life of Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons. During World War II, Lt. Gen. Leslie Groves Jr. appoints physicist Robert Oppenheimer to work on the top-secret Manhattan Project. Oppenheimer and a team of scientists spend years developing and designing the atomic bomb. Their work comes to fruition on July 16, 1945 as they witness the world’s first nuclear explosion, forever changing the course of history.
The movie won seven Academy Awards this year including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, as well as prizes for Editing, Cinematography and Score. The movie is 3-hours long, butt fear not, we’ll take an intermission part way through.
