VFW Post 3617 is involved with a number of annual programs, some of which are outlined below:

Buddy Poppies
Annually around both Memorial Day and Veterans Day, members of our Post and Auxiliary distribute Buddy Poppies at various locations around the Wenatchee Valley, to encourage our community to honor and remember our Veterans. Donations in exchange are not required, but are sincerely appreciated, and will be used to support Veterans in our area through various other programs. Learn more –>

Student Patriotism
Through the National Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen programs, as well as the Washington State Youth Essay program, students in grades 3 through 12 are given a chance to express their patriotism by writing and/or recording an essay on a given subject. Awards given at the Post, District, and Department levels, with a chance at National awards.

Teacher of the Year
Elementary, Middle School, and High School Teachers who exemplify an outstanding commitment to teach Americanism and Patriotism to students. Winners at the Post level compete for National awards. Learn more –>

Nursing Scholarship
In honor of PFC Kellen Biggar, each year we provide a $500 scholarship to a deserving nursing student attending Wenatchee Valley College. Learn more –>

Public Service Awards
Local ​Law Enforcement personnel, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Fire Fighters are recognized for their continued community service. Learn more –>

Color Guard for Wreaths Across America 2018Honor Guard / Color Guard
​The Post provides Honor Guard and Color Guards for a number of community events and occasions, as well as Veteran Funerals. To request a Color or Honor Guard for your event, please contact us and we will put you in touch with our Guard Captain.
