Wreaths Across America in the Wenatchee Valley

Each December on the second Saturday, the mission of Remember, Honor and Teach, about the lives and sacrifices of our veterans, is carried out by volunteers across the nation as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. Local events coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies with the main event at Arlington National Cemetery. These ceremonies are held at more than 4,600 additional locations in all 50 States, as well as at sea and abroad. Each location hosts their event at the exact same time as the ceremony held at Arlington.

While we have Veterans Day in the fall and Memorial Day in the spring, our servicemen and women sacrifice their time and safety every single day of the year, to preserve our freedoms. In many American homes, every day there is an empty seat for one who is serving or one who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and never came home. That is why the Wreaths Across America mission to Remember, Honor and Teach lasts all year long, far beyond the single day in December when we coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies. All throughout the year, Wreaths Across America works in a number of ways to show our veterans and their families that we will not forget—we will never forget.

For 2024, we are partnering with the American Legion, Civil Air Patrol Pangborn Squadron, various local veteran and volunteer organizations, and members of the public to host a wreath-laying ceremony at the Wenatchee Cemetery. After the ceremony in Wenatchee ends, our Post will be placing wreaths at the Military Section of Evergreen Memorial Park, Stemilt Hill Cemetery, and Sunset Cemetery in East Wenatchee.

In years past, we held a separate ceremony at Evergreen Memorial Park, however we haven’t had an appropriate combination of wreaths and volunteers to make this work more recently.
