The Department of Washington VFW has teamed up with National Auto Body Council to support the Recycled Rides program. The Recycled Rides program is a unique endeavor that has been fulfilling this need since 2007 with over 2500 vehicles having been gifted. Insurers, car rental companies, collision repairers, paint suppliers, parts vendors and others collaborate to repair and then donate vehicles to deserving individuals chosen by recognized nonprofit 501(c)(3) charities that provide services and work directly with at-risk families and individuals in local communities throughout the country. The process is one where a damaged but repairable vehicle is donated (usually by an insurance company or car rental agency), a NABCT member auto body collision shop volunteers to repair it, seeking donations from their local vendors, and then the vehicle is presented to a recipient carefully chosen by the charity or in some cases, to the charity itself. This gift of a vehicle may elevate a family to a new level of economic independence.
If you, or someone you know, would be a good fit for this program please be sure to submit the application no later than September 18th, 2020.
