Auxiliary’s annual food drive for Serve Wenatchee

In January 2023, the Auxiliary decided their winter project would be to organize a food drive for Serve Wenatchee. Three years later, this has become a staple project.

That first year, it was a single trunkload of food donations that were collected and taken to Serve Wenatchee. The following years, we also included a financial donation on top of what our Post and Auxiliary members donated in nonperishable food stuffs.

This year, Shirley Lance (Auxiliary President) delivered a car load of food to Serve Wenatchee along with a $200 donation (photo, right). Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

For those who don’t know, Serve Wenatchee  provides essential resources like rental assistance, groceries, and furniture to help prevent homelessness in the Wenatchee Valley. Their Fresh Hope Market food bank is set up like a grocery store where people in need of food can “shop” for items that meet their needs and tastes.

Last October, a catastrophic flood destroyed the Serve Wenatchee headquarters and Fresh Hope Market. They are still in the process of expanding and renovating their permanent space at 12 Orondo Ave, Wenatchee. In the mean time, they are operating at 850 N. James Ave, East Wenatchee.
