There’s never a shortage of need for ramps, but there has been a shortage of support to make them happen.
Over the past year, there have been some difficulties as the Washington representative for Operation Ramp It Up has been out of commission. Recently Snohomish VFW Post 921 has taken on the mission of ensuring ramp projects through this national nonprofit can continue here in Washington state.
Thanks to their help, our post was able to complete another ramp project for a local Vietnam veteran in need. Larry served in the USN as a Deep Sea Diver during the Vietnam war, but now he has trouble climbing the stairs into his home. On Sept 3rd, 5 of our wonderful volunteers showed up to install a new ramp for Larry. Within a few short hours, we were able to put the ramp together, install pavers to give it a solid surface to transition onto their sidewalk, and install the ramp for use. Thanks Brad, Jim, Dennis, Tony, and Jamie!
