Nursing Scholarship

Each year, our Post awards $500 to a deserving student attending Wenatchee Valley College in the Nursing Program.

The scholarship is named after Private First Class Kellen Biggar of Waterville. Biggar was a 2000 graduate of Waterville High School who attended Spokane Falls Community College on a track and basketball scholarship. After graduating with his AA, he enlisted in the US Army. He served in the 82nd Airborne as a medic and deployed to Iraq during Operation IRAQI FREEDOM. Shortly after returning from Iraq and leaving the Army with an Honorable discharge, Biggar was tragically killed in a car accident on 23 July 2006. At the time of his death, he was enrolled at Spokane Falls Community College to pursue prerequisites for a degree in nursing.

The PFC Kellen Biggar Nursing Scholarship honors the life and service of this local man by annually awarding a check for $500 to a nursing student at Wenatchee Valley College, to help with tuition and other school expenses.
