FEDVIP Open Enrollment

Open Season for Uniformed Service Members is closely approaching, and we wanted to ensure that eligible members have the information they need.

Due to the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2017, retired uniformed service members and their families, who were previously eligible for the TRICARE Retiree Dental Program (TRDP), now have the opportunity to enroll in the Federal Employee Dental and Vision Program (FEDVIP). This also includes vision coverage for Active Duty Spouses and dependent children.

Open Season is from 09 November through 14 December 2020. It is an opportunity for retirees/active duty spouses to select a dental or vision plan from numerous dental and vision carriers within the FEDVIP program. They have the option to enroll, change plans or stay with their selected carrier each year.

Julie Moore, a Sales Executive with Blue Cross Blue Shield Federal Employee Program, is available to assist and educate on the dental and vision programs, Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Dental and Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP Vision. Julie resides in Washington, but covers all of Oregon, Idaho, and Utah as well.

Due to COVID, Julie has put together a schedule of webinars for anyone to attend and learn more about these programs. See below for the full schedule along with links to register and some frequently asked questions.

Frequently Asked Questions for Webinars

Q: Can I attend more than one webinar?
A: Yes. You’re welcome to attend as many as you think necessary.

Q: Will recordings be available?
A: Yes. You will get a copy of the recording after each webinar attended. Additionally, we have a channel available to review previously recorded webinars. We will provide you a link to that channel as well.

Q: I am having problems registering. Do you have any suggestions?
A: If you encounter blocking or warnings about the link it is likely due to your internal work firewall. We’ve typically encountered this most with military folks. If you come across this issue, try registering from your home or personal computer. That usually works. If you have any further questions feel free to drop us a line at our email address: BCBSGoToWebinar@regence.com

Q: What is the webinar platform you are using?
A: We will be using the GoTo Webinar platform.

Q: Do I have to have a camera to attend?
A: No, you do not. You will see us briefly prior to the presentation but no one else will be shown on camera. No dressing up will be required on your part!

Q: I cannot attend an online webinar. What are my other options?
A: You may contact Julie Moore at 253-382-7073 for further assistance.

Q: How do I fill out the registration page with the agency information?
A: When registering for an event, please indicate the agency as Uniformed Services. You may use your home or work address in the agency address field. This information is not shared with anyone and helps us to gather attendance per state.

Q: Can my spouse attend?
A: Absolutely! On the registration page, an agency field is required. Please indicate Uniformed Services if you are attending on your spouse’s behalf.

Q: Will we be able to ask questions or is this a listen only event?
A: Yes, you will be able to ask questions at the end of the presentation. This is also a Chat and Q&A function within the webinar tool for you to use during the event. We will have folks on hand to answer your questions.

Q: My question is too detailed for a webinar. What should I do?
A: I am happy to schedule time with you to discuss more detailed questions. Just send me an email. Still, we do suggest you attend one of the sessions. They will be helpful and we’re sure you’ll learn something useful.
