Helping the Homeless stay warm

On Saturday, 30 January, a group of our Auxiliary members handed out warm clothing items to community members at the weekly Lighthouse meal and food bank distribution event.

One member, Judi Ebi, had crocheted 12 hats explicitly for this purpose.

Other members of the Auxiliary collected hats, gloves, scarves, socks, and coats to give out. Auxiliary President Shirley Lance also provided 2 cases of hand warmers.

Alongside President Lance, 3 Auxiliary members (and one helpful Post member with a truck and pop-up canopy) distributed the items to approximately 60 individuals who were in need. With temperatures at freezing and a soggy, overcast day, these items were greatly appreciated by all who received them.

This was the Auxiliary’s large Community Outreach project for the year, and all feel it went extremely well. There’s talk of doing the same next year, too. Thank you ladies for your efforts to reach out and care for our community members!
